1. Aims and Objectives

The TESOL Graduate Diploma Program is for teaching professional development, quite practice-oriented. It is to provide

A comprehensive overview of issues in TESOL, with specific focus on current TESOL teaching methods in Vietnamese setting;

Skills and practice necessary to function successfully as TESOL teachers at foreign language centers, high schools and primary schools

2. Courses

Students are required to complete seven courses being given in English

(3 credits per course):

• Theories of Language Teaching and Learning
• Instructional Technology
• Second Language Acquisition
• Communication and Culture
• Advanced Methodology for Language Teaching
• Language Teaching Practice
• Academic Writing

 3. Admission requirement

       A Bachelor degree in English or TESOL

       IELTS 6.5 or equivalent

4. Schedule

• Courses last for 7 months, on Saturday morning & afternoon, and Sunday morning, start in May and in November, at 97 Vo Van Tan, Distict 3, Ho Chi Minh City Open University
• Enrolment twice a year in May and in November

5. Degrees

Postgraduate Diplomas in TESOL will be granted to whoever has completed successfully the seven courses of the program. Diploma holders can continue studying the second place leading to Master of Education in TESOL at University of Southern Queensland (Australia) or to MA Degree in TESOL at HCMC Open University or at other universities.
