Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability have become emerging issues in recent years. The issues are relatively new but extremely important for Vietnam. In particular, the year 2015 marks a breakthrough for Viet Nam by joining the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP). The integration process will take the Vietnamese businesses to opportunities, but also pose challenges. In order to adapt fierce competition environment, reforms are required to promote advantages by Vietnamese enterprises. CSR and sustainability could be the fundamental factors to participate further in the regional and global value chain, and to enhance their capacity to be stronger especially in terms of human resources.

Understanding the importance of the issues, the Ho Chi Minh City Open University (HCMC-OU) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization initiate the International Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Business Development (SBD). This initiation is also collaborated by organization and universities around the world: Global Compact Network Viet Nam, Saxion University (the Netherlands), Berlin School of Economics and Law (Germany), University of Rouen (France), Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management (Brussels), and University of International Studies of Rome – UNINT. In addition, this event is also got the media sponsorship from Ho Chi Minh City Journalist Association, Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper and Communist Party of HCMC Electronic Newspaper.

The conference aims at opening a platform for both researchers and practitioners to discuss and debate recent insights on socially responsible practices and sustainable business development in various industries. Furthermore, the conference will be providing opportunity to network and to share knowledge towards economic integration and business sustainable development

The conference was held at Liberty Central Saigon Riverside Hotel on 27/11/2015 with the participation of over 100 delegates from domestic as well as international institutions. They are professors, researchers from universities as well as CEO, managers from corporate sector.
